Steamboat watched for 30 minutes (8:25 to 8:55am) and 47 plays were counted as such when water is splashed out of the vent. In the 10m period, the north vent played only twice. At 9:00 a.m., the water level in the north vent was 4 to 6 feet below the lowest lip of the crater. At 10:15 am, the water level was almost steadily splashing to the crater lip. At 11:45 a.m., a particularly strong burst (approx. 20 feet but of large volume) shot from the north vent. At noon, the water level was within 4-5 feet of the crater edge and strongly agitated. |
