Note: | no times or dates noted - Summary of Thermal Log – Norris June 12 – August 24, 1961: LARGE COLLOIDAL POOL In early summer this large pool was gray, murky and very active. Several times it cleared, ran off, and the water became blue and relatively quiet. During the active stage, it spouted water 4 to 6 feet continuously. This pool often cleared with the advent of hot and dry weather, becoming murky with rainy weather. [Additional entry under Steamboat]: It is thought that some relationship exists between the activity of Steamboat and some of the features in the Porcelain Basin; notably the large Colloidal Pool. When Colloidal is gray and active, Steamboat is less active; when Colloidal is less active, Steamboat picks up. |
