| Note: | 07/23/1976 - presumed time - Activity at Echinus: During the eruption of Echinus this morning I noticed a great deal of spray exploding from the crater at very acute angles. Almost the entire back surrounding north and east sides of the feature received heavy spray. Almost everyone got wet!! The eruption was quite high and with the addition of heavy spray along the log benches the eruption seemed more violent than “normal”. I checked for rocks being thrown from the vent. Did not notice anything unusual. |
