Note: | January 14th 1982 - The new year started out with a bang! Steamboat Erupted!!!
When I came down to take Steamboat’s temperature this morning around 10, I found it in a very heavy steam phase. The runoff channels still had puddles on them but most of the water was frozen making a waterfall of ice that was pretty much __ to try & walk down. On the boardwalk where normally there is 2’ of packed snow, there were piles of gravel & logs & absolutely no snow. Where the boardwalk usually rests on the ground, the flood of water washed out enough rocks that when I sat on the boardwalk, my feet didn’t even tough the ground (8” to spare). |
