Visitor felt rumbling around then, thought due to Echinus beginning, looked behind her & exclaimed “Oh! The big one is going off” (1925) We all ran to Steamboat, rocks (fist-size) rising 250’ into air, very murky runoff in the runoff channel by bottom of steps. Beautiful rainbow!! Beautiful full moon for steam phase. Pete Allen, Tim Maguire, Mariana Young * more folks joined in on the special event.
Both vents expelling water, but mainly north. Parking lot soaked! Wind shifte4d around midnight while Russ, Dave, Carolyn Raleigh, Eric, Jennifer, Lisa, strolling back basin causing boardwalk to be drenched and we could feel mist. |
