Note:big peak on tantalus creek gauge. topping out at 17.2 Cfs. no accompanying seismic signal. it was raining in gardiner last night but doesnt look like rain. maybe ice dam breaking?

17.2 cfps is way higher than Steamboat could ever do, so it's unlikely it's that. The traces on YNM *do* widen ever so slightly in this timeframe, so it must have been a great torrent of water let loose to cause that.

Given the 0hr HRRR sounding I agree that it does not appear to be a rain event (I have attached the atmospheric sounding), and agree with lack of accompanying seismic signal. Must have been something big!

Historic weather data has light rain starting at 2115 in West Yell. Warm afternoon and evening probably melted a lot of snow. IMO weather is only a contributing factor. Odd. Curious.https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/usa/west-yellowstone/historic
