Comments:10 bursts viewed up close. Ebony Geyser served as an indicator Bear Den in the following manner: Water was moderately boiling below the vent’s narrowest point at a depth of at least 7 feet from the top. Then with little change in the amount of bubbling the water level rapidly rose to within 2 feet of the top of the vent requiring only 30 seconds to do so. It was immediately followed in turn by vigorous boiling and splashing up to 2½ feet for a duration of 36 seconds. The boiling abruptly died down and the pool in the vent completely drained right after and during the first burst of Bear Den. Bear Den’s eruption of 10 bursts lasted approximately 1m45s. All bursts after the first were of moderate to great strength. The second to last burst in fact was the most powerful as it shot water a few feet above the tree tops and horizontally a distance of 56 feet.
