Comments: | No water in Aurum and boardwalk wet at 0625. Based on these observations and subsequent eruption seen by webcam, the eruption probably occurred around 0500 or slightly earlier. Note that I originally guessed 0545 and revised my estimate based on the time of the next eruption caught by the webcam. Even though my initial estimate was probably off by as much as an hour, this seems like a justifiable use of an "A" eruption entry to preserve a ballpark estimate of a time for an eruption that definitely happened.
In response to anonymous chat page parties questioning my use of an approximate time as opposed to a note: a mere note on Aurum's status seems less appropriate when there is such obvious evidence of an eruption. Leaving a note also leaves a gap in the eruption history when one clearly occurred, and makes it more difficult to analyze intervals by forcing a user to cross-reference eruption history and note history---which is in no way convenient, least of all to observers in the field. |
